August 2021 – Maintain Momentum

Newsletter

Our current mantra in the GPS office of late has been “maintain momentum”. As mentioned last month, May and June were a return to our usual momentum of loan settlements, and July and August are proving to be the same.

Of course, just as everything is running smoothly, another lockdown.

The GPS staff have not missed a beat. We took home our laptops, plugged them in (with admittedly a quick phone call to IT for some of us) and then it was business as usual.

One thing we like to prove in a lockdown, is our ability to continue to provide our high levels of service.
As part of our commitment to services levels, we ensure staff are crossed trained across different areas of the business. Which leads us to our newest member of the Investor Services team, Marnie!

Marnie will be well known to some of our investors as Richard’s daughter. She started at GPS officially in 2014 but was hanging around the office far before then.

When she first started, Marnie didn’t even have a desk, just standing room next to the scanner. Since then has finished her property economics degree, started her law degree, and is a Portfolio Manager at GPS.

At GPS, it is all about being here for a long time. It isn’t about how much funds under management we have, how quickly we are growing etc. We lend because we want to lend, not because we must lend to meet growth budgets. Our current mantra in the GPS office of late has been “maintain momentum”. As mentioned last month, May and June were a return to our usual momentum of loan settlements, and July and August are proving to be the same.

Of course, just as everything is running smoothly, another lockdown.
